Launched in 2001, the Dot NAME generic domain name extension is the only one supposed to be for personal websites only. These domains can include personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other labels people are famous by. At the beginning, solely third-level registrations were allowed, so if you planned to order john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already grabbed third-level names remained operational.

You will have the chance to edit the WHOIS contact info, to park your domain, to set up Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an existing domain to our firm if you obtain its EPP transfer authorization key from the current domain service provider and we will renew it after the transfer has been finalized. There are no special terms on who can get a .NAME domain name, but in order to maintain the objective behind its establishment alive, the dot NAME Registry may verify who the owner is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration can be challenged.
