An AAAA record is an IP in the recently introduced IPv6 format and it is comprised of eight sets of hexadecimal numbers, as opposed to the IPv4 IPs, that include 4 groups of numbers between 1 and 255. An illustration of an IPv6 address would be 3014:0d43:23a3:2354:1320:8f3b:2635:3254 and with this format the sheer number of IPs that can be created is many times greater than the number of the IPv4 addresses. Every domain has its hosting server Internet protocol address as a record and in essence, this record informs the domain address where the site for it is. Depending on the system which the service provider employs, the record is going to be called A (IPv4) or AAAA (IPv6). Changing this record allows you to host your site with one provider and your e-mails with a different one, so if you choose to use this kind of redirection to forward a domain name to a server that uses an IPv6 address, you will need to set up an AAAA record for it.

AAAA Records in Cloud Web Hosting

If you'd like to create a new AAAA record a domain or subdomain hosted within your cloud web hosting account, it won't take you more than several basic steps to do that. Our in-house built Hepsia CP is very intuitive to use and it'll allow you to create or modify any record with ease. When you sign in and navigate to the DNS Records section, where you'll discover all present records for your domain addresses and subdomains, you will only have to click on the "New" button, pick out AAAA from a small drop-down menu in the pop-up that will show up, input or paste the required IPv6 address and save the change - it is as simple as that. The new record is going to be 100% live within only one hour and the hostname you have created it for will start opening whatever content you have with the other provider. If required, you are also going to be able to modify the TTL (Time To Live) value, which shows the time in seconds the new record will be functioning after you eventually edit it to something different or you simply delete it.

AAAA Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company and you have to set up an AAAA record for a domain you have hosted in it or a subdomain you've set up, it'll take you only a few mouse clicks within the Hepsia CP to accomplish this. Even though you may have never had a website hosting account before, you will not encounter any problems because you will use a very simple and easy-to-use interface. All of the DNS records for your domain addresses are going to be listed in a section of the Control Panel with the same name, so when you go there, you will notice all records that have been created automatically or manually and you will be able to create a new one by clicking on the corresponding button. A compact pop-up shall appear, so with just a few mouse clicks you can choose the type of record you require and for which domain name or subdomain it will be created. Afterwards, simply paste the IPv6 address inside a text box, save the modification and 1 hour later the new AAAA record is going to be completely functioning. As an optional setting, you can select the time this record will be working after you change it or erase it in the future. This is the so-called TTL, or Time To Live value of the record, which you can modify from the default 3600 seconds when the other company requires it.
